How to Build a Strong(er) Resume [video]

Job Applicants

In the months ahead, as the economy reopens and jobs return, competition for those jobs will be fierce. Now is the time to work on your resume.

In this webinar, Jennifer Stanford, PTK’s Associate Vice President of Program Implementation, spoke with Michelle Gietl and Estefania Palacios to get their best resume tips. Michelle is the Student Life Advisor and PTK chapter advisor at Columbia Gorge Community College in Oregon, and Estafania is the Speech and Debate Team Outreach Director at Cornell University in New York.

In the webinar, you’ll learn why resumes are important and get specific advice for how your resume should look if you’re changing careers, hoping to move up the ladder in your field, or have little-to-no job experience.

You’ll also learn why it’s important to have one static resume where you list all experience and accomplishments, but why you should also have resumes that are specific to the jobs for which you’re applying.

And, don’t worry if you don’t have any work experience in your field. Include any work you’ve done, even if it’s folding t-shirts. Also, list volunteer and service activities to show that you care about something greater than yourself and that you can follow through on projects.
