Chowan University Offers $2,000 Scholarship for PTK Members
Chowan University has established a $2,000 transfer scholarship exclusively for Phi Theta Kappa members.
Located in Murfreesboro in northeastern North Carolina, Chowan University is a Christian educational institution. Its name means “people of the south” and honors the Native American Algonquin Chowanook tribe.
Chowan boasts a small student population and an average class size of 18. Many of its students are first-generation college students.

Tell us about your college’s new transfer scholarship for Phi Theta Kappa members:
This $2,000 annual scholarship is open to any PTK student and is in addition to their academic scholarship.
Why does your college feel that it is important to offer a scholarship opportunity for members?
These students are the best and brightest at their school, and we know that they will be the students that help make our class each year and also earn honors for us as well.
Are there other transfer scholarships that could be stacked with your Phi Theta Kappa award?
Students can receive up to $9,000 in academic scholarships when accepted and can also interview for additional scholarships up to $6,000 per year. There are other need-based scholarships as well.

In your opinion, what is one of the most impressive things about your college?
Our classes are small so the students get one-on-one attention. Also, our graduates have done really well with getting in the workforce and getting great jobs right out of college. We also have some unique majors like Graphic Communication.
Are there any special events or deadlines on your recruitment calendar that you would like to share?
Chowan Scholarship Day is an important day because that is when students can come to campus and interview for scholarships. Those dates vary and can be found at chowan.edu/scholarshipday.
