Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is proud to announce the appointment of Lulu McGowan to its Board of Directors. McGowan, a student at St. Louis Community College and the Society’s current International President, was unanimously selected by the Board to represent the voice of students at the highest level of PTK leadership.

McGowan was inducted into Phi Theta Kappa on August 31, 2023, and elected International President at PTK Catalyst 2025 in Kansas City. Her journey from new member to international leader has been marked by an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, personal growth, and purposeful advocacy.

“Lulu represents the aspirations and needs of the countless students we serve,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “We are honored to welcome her to the Board and look forward to the insight she will bring to our work.”

With a passion for advancing equity and inclusion, McGowan has championed student engagement at the chapter, regional, and international levels. She has served as President of the Heartland Region and as a chapter officer of the Xi Epsilon Chapter. Her peers describe her as ambitious, curious, and deeply committed to creating positive change.

McGowan credits Phi Theta Kappa for helping her transform from a reserved student into a bold leader. She describes the Society as the place where she learned to vocalize her curiosity and channel her ambition into meaningful action—an experience shared by thousands of PTK members around the world.

With interests that range from social justice and intersectionality to literature and environmental ethics, McGowan brings a thoughtful, informed, and compassionate perspective to the Board.
