ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Phi Theta Kappa is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Financial Analyst to support budgeting, reporting, and financial planning across the organization. This role is ideal for a financial professional who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys working with data, and is motivated by mission-driven work.
As a key member of the Financial Services team, the Financial Analyst will partner closely with the Chief Financial Officer and staff across the organization to ensure accurate financial reporting, effective budget management, and strong internal controls. This position will also provide financial insights that drive efficiency and informed decision-making.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Analyze and compile financial information to produce periodic financial statements, forecasts, and specialized reports.
- Develop spreadsheets, charts, and graphs to support financial reporting and presentations.
- Ensure consistency and accuracy in analytical methods and financial reporting across the organization.
- Lead financial planning processes for annual operating and capital budgets.
- Review expenses and identify cost savings opportunities and process improvements.
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and proper financial records.
- Provide staff with guidance on analytical methods and financial tools.
- Prepare and process payroll.
- Promote a customer-service mindset within the Financial Services team.
- Perform other financial services duties as assigned.

LOCATION
This position is approved for remote work, with preference for candidates in or willing to travel periodically to Jackson, Mississippi.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in computerized accounting systems, OR six years of relevant accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct, including building financial reports and managing budgets through Sage Intacct Planning.
- Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook); strong data analysis and modeling skills in Excel required.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare and interpret financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses to support organizational decision-making.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience with nonprofit financial management practices, including restricted fund accounting and/or grant reporting, preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Noise: This work environment is an office-like setting with moderate noise.
- Physical Exertion: The incumbent may frequently be required to lift approximately 10 pounds and/or occasionally up to 25 pounds.
- Vision: The incumbent must possess close, midrange, distance and peripheral vision; as well as the ability to identify colors, judge distances, and adjust focus.
- Speaking/Hearing: The incumbent must be able to give and receive information through speaking and listening.
- Motor Coordination: The incumbent in this position is frequently required to: use their hands and reach with their hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to:stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.
