Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has published academic research conducted by students at 15 colleges in the eighth edition of Civic Scholar: Journal of Undergraduate Community College Research.

Civic Scholar features 15 exceptional undergraduate research projects created and carried out by PTK student members. The research projects involve a wide range of topics, including “Preserving the Story of the Onondaga Nation at Onondaga Community College” and “Debunk It!: Fighting Misinformation and Disinformation on Social Media.” PTK selected the published works from among 416 submissions from colleges within its global community.
“I am extremely proud of the outstanding research of our student members,” PTK President and CEO Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner said. “The 15 published projects showcase the work and abilities of community college students to create innovative research. We are proud to share this student work with the higher education community and others interested in honors programs at community colleges.”
Students conducted research as part of Phi Theta Kappa’s honors topic, The Power of Stories. The works published in Civic Scholar include both substantive research and community engagement—students ultimately turned their research into action by using their findings to meet specific community needs.
“We are proud of all the chapters that took this year’s opportunity to develop, implement, and write about their Honors in Action projects,” Dr. Susan Edwards, Senior Director of Honors Programs, said. “They are conducting research that matters, and their work has engaged people on their college campuses and communities.”
