Jackson, Mississippi — Trustmark National Bank and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) are launching a new regional scholarship for members who plan to enter the workforce after earning an associate degree or certificate.

The Trustmark Workforce Development Scholarships will benefit low-income PTK members in states served by the bank — Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas. Ten $200 scholarships will be awarded to members to help pay for occupational certification exam costs associated with their career fields.

“From welding to nursing, many career fields require certification prior to employment, and many of these can be costly,” said PTK Foundation Executive Director Dr. Monica Marlowe. “We don’t want these fees to be a barrier to students entering the workforce, so we are grateful to Trustmark for this support.”

To qualify for the Trustmark Workforce Development Scholarship, PTK members must be enrolled in a workforce-related major at an associate degree-granting college and be eligible to apply for the Society’s Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship. The scholarship will be administered on PTK’s Spring Scholarship Application, which opens March 1 and closes May 1. Learn more at ptk.org/scholarships.

“We believe that the mark of a great partner is someone who works as hard as you do,” said Trustmark Senior Vice President & Corporate Communications & Marketing Director Melanie Morgan. “And with Phi Theta Kappa members, we know that’s the case. We are proud to offer these scholarships so that students can continue to pursue their careers and dreams.”
