Petition Requirements

1) To support Phi Theta Kappa's mission to recognize academic achievement of college students and to provide opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.

2) To comply with the provisions of the Constitution and Bylaws of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society .

3) To submit chapter bylaws for approval by Phi Theta Kappa prior to the chapter's first induction ceremony.

4) Provide at least one faculty or staff member of the institution to serve as a Chapter Advisor.

5) To provide discipline for the local chapter. Because the charter for a chapter is granted to the college, the institution's top administrator, the college president or campus CEO, has the final authority on deciding an issue upon which the advisor and members cannot agree, as long as that decision is in compliance with the Phi Theta Kappa Constitution and Bylaws.

6) To mutually indemnify, save and hold harmless Phi Theta Kappa/Your Institution, its officers, directors, employees, students and members, from and against any and all claims, actions, suits, demands, losses, damages, judgements, settlements, costs and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees and expenses), and liabilities of every kind and character whatsoever (a “Claim”), which may arise by reason of (i) any act or omission by the college or any of its subsidiaries, affiliates, related entities, partners, officers, directors, employees, members, shareholders or agents; of (ii) the inaccuracy o breach of any of the covenants, representations and warranties made by the college in this agreement.

The undersigned certifies that the college meets the petition requirements to charter, that the institution is committed to chartering a chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, and that this petition is in accordance with the general operating policies of the college.
