Linder is the Texas Regional Coordinator, serving as a liaison between Phi Theta Kappa Headquarters and the region’s 92 chapters. She will serve as the Regional Coordinator Representative on the PTK Board of Directors, following former Board member Pattie Van Atter, who recently stepped down. Linder’s term will begin immediately and will extend through April 2022, when an election will be held to elect a Board member to serve a full three-year term.

“Mary is a highly decorated chapter advisor who leads one of the top chapters and top regions in Phi Theta Kappa,” said Dr. George Boggs, Chair of the PTK Board of Directors. “I am pleased to welcome her to the Board, and I have no doubt that she has the knowledge and the experience to provide careful insight to our work, as well as to serve as a representative and advocate for her peers.”

Linder is the advisor of her college’s PTK chapter and serves on several campus committees at Grayson College, including the ADA Advisory Committee, the Student Engagement Goal Team, and the Emergency Aid Committee. She also works as an adjunct government professor at Lone Star College in Houston.

Since being named a PTK chapter advisor in 2009, Linder has held various leadership roles within the organization, including Texas District II Coordinator and finally Texas Regional Coordinator. She is also certified to teach PTK’s Leadership Development Studies Course.

“I am honored at this opportunity to serve on the Board,” Linder said. “I have been fortunate to serve at different levels of leadership within Phi Theta Kappa, and each one has allowed me to grow and better serve our members. I cannot wait to work with this amazing group of student success champions.”

Linder holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in secondary history education from Southeastern Oklahoma University and is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas A&M Commerce. She is an active member of the Texas Community College Teachers Association.
