"Here in Maryland, I attend Prince George's Community College, and I am proudly an Owl. I would not change ...anything I did to get here. I hate to imagine what would have happened if I never stepped foot in a community college."

Meet Kimberly Ross-Brown: Educator, Mentor, and PTK Champion 🌟
Kimberly Ross-Brown began her journey with Phi Theta Kappa in 2019—and what started as a proud mom moment at her daughter’s induction quickly turned into a life-changing chapter of leadership and service.
“I ...watched my daughter light up with purpose in PTK, and I knew this organization was something special,” Kimberly said.
Now serving as Lead Advisor for the Alpha Phi Kappa Chapter at Bluegrass Community and Technical College, Kimberly is all in. Under her guidance, the chapter has earned 2024 Most Distinguished Chapter and 5-Star Chapter honors, along with regional and international awards that reflect her commitment to excellence. In 2022, she received the prestigious Paragon Award for New Outstanding Advisors, and her leadership continues to uplift and inspire.
For Kimberly, PTK is more than a title or a task—it's a calling.
“I believe student success goes beyond academics—it's about engagement, leadership, and purpose,” she said. “When students are empowered to lead and serve, they gain the confidence and skills to excel in education and life.”
A passionate advocate for inclusiveness and innovation, Kimberly developed a groundbreaking public speaking course for students with Down syndrome, making college more accessible and empowering for all learners. She's also a published author, seasoned presenter, and current doctoral student researching how student organizations impact academic success.
Phi Theta Kappa is proud to have Kimberly as a dedicated advisor, mentor, and changemaker in our community. Her leadership reaches far beyond her campus—she serves as a PTK Division II “Guide on the Side,” mentoring new advisors across seven states.
Thank you, Kimberly, for living out the values of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship every day. You truly embody the heart of PTK.💙💛

: Clark State welcomed 72 new members to Phi Theta Kappa this spring. PTK recognizes academic excellence and offers scholarships, leadership and career tools. Membership is just $8.50 for eligible students. Excellence starts here. #ClarkState #PTK
Nina Wiley began working at Clark State College in 2006 and has worked in various roles at the college, and she cannot imagine being anywhere else.
Her favorite part of being an advisor is the opportunity it gives her to work with students.
“I am passionate about creating ...opportunities for students to grow, to learn and to be celebrated,” Nina said. “In Phi Theta Kappa I have the awesome opportunity to work with many remarkable students. Witnessing their growth as leaders and advocates is so rewarding. Students have to make choices on how they use their time and energy. I am so thankful when they chose PTK. We are a family. We are a group of scholars. We are a community where students can be their best selves.”
Nina understands the commitment it takes to dedicate time to PTK, so she and the rest of Clark State to offer them meaningful experiences.
“We strive for our students to have a sense of belonging at Clark State,” Nina said. “Phi Theta Kappa brings together students who may not have crossed paths otherwise. As an advisor, I am so pleased when students make genuine connections with one another, offer support, and uplift one another in times that are challenging and celebratory. Phi Theta Kappa can truly be life changing for students.”
Nina appreciates the support from the Clark State administration, especially Clark State President Dr. Blondin for funding 90% of membership fees for Clark State students, reducing their cost to just $8.50.
She is also especially proud of 2024-2025 International President Annalise Smith, a Clark State student.
“Annalise is a perfect example of a leader with endless potential,” Nina said.
Phi Theta Kappa is so thankful for Nina's dedication to her students and the mission of Phi Theta Kappa.

To celebrate his PTK roots, the chapter officers of the SUNY Niagara local chapter, Phi Theta Kappa: ...Alpha Pi Beta Chapter, presented Dr. Holmes with a custom embroidered Phi Theta Kappa jacket to commemorate his inauguration as the 8th President of Suny Niagara.
“College isn’t about just the activities that take place in the classroom,” Dr. Holmes shared, reflecting on his time as a PTK member. “College is about developing the ‘whole’ student: intellectually, socially, emotionally, spiritually, and physically.
