Provisional Membership
What is Provisional Membership?
Belong to PTK before you qualify — start connecting, serving, and growing today.
Provisional membership lets you get involved with Phi Theta Kappa now if you’re new to college or still working towards the GPA requirement. Join meetings, help with projects, and experience PTK early so you’re ready to soar when full eligibility kicks in.
Why Join as a Provisional Member?
Be part of PTK sooner. You don’t have to wait until you qualify for full membership to get connected.
Get a head start. Learn about PTK benefits, meet members, and build momentum before your induction.
Grow with us. When you’re fully eligible, you’ll already feel at home and ready to dive into leadership and scholarship opportunities.
What happens next?
Your path to full membership -- here’s what the journey can look like:
Jump in now
Attend chapter meetings, volunteer for projects, and explore PTK resources as a provisional member.
Work steadily toward eligibility
Stay focused on your coursework so you can meet the chapter’s coursework hours and GPA requirements (generally a 3.5 cumulative GPA on at least 12 college-level credits; each chapter determines its specific eligibility). Chapter advisors can help you track eligibility milestones.
Celebrate your induction
Once you meet requirements, you’ll be officially inducted and recognized just like every other new member.
