Our chapter was awarded 'Outstanding Student Organization' at TCC Northwest's Brilliance at Brunch celebration. This celebration was a joint collaboration with Student Activities as a way to give recognition to TCC Northwest clubs, organizations, and students for their involvement on... campus.
We were so honored to have received this award! It would not have been possible without the endless support that our advisors and campus staff gave us throughout the year, as well as the hard work that each officer consistently put out. In particular, we want to thank Ms. Alicia Coleman, our campus Student Activities Coordinator, pictured with our officer team in slide 3. She was always encouraging and was there with us every step of the way for each event we carried out throughout the year, especially during unexpectedly challenging times.
The officers also created three awards for PTK members named after our honor society's symbols, the Athena, Laurel, and Oakleaf awards. Each respectively represent Phi Theta Kappa's values of wisdom, aspiration, and purity (which we redefined as strength of character.) These awards were presented to individuals that we felt embodied these ideals. In corresponding order, they were presented to Celeste Pensado, Lyn McPherson, and Kennedie Watkins. Collectively, they were coined the "Golden Key Awards."
Lastly, our advisors also gave out the "White Rose Award" to recognize outstanding leadership and involvement to a member of our chapter. This award was presented to our Vice President of Public Relations, Maria Rivera.

Feeling so thankful for my journey over this last year and beyond excited to confirm that I’ll be attending the University of Pennsylvania - The College of Liberal and Professional Studies this Fall 💙❤️ I was waiting on one final confirmation, which I received earlier this week. I’m ...honored to be one of the recipients of the Bread Upon the Waters Scholarship, which supports women over 25 returning to college after a hiatus. This scholarship covers full tuition as I attend part-time. It celebrates and empowers women who are determined to pursue their education despite life’s challenges and commitments, making higher education more accessible and rewarding for those who may have taken an unconventional path to university. Honored to now be apart of the BUTW legacy and hopeful that I will be able to assist other students in the future. #UPenn #QuakerPride #Thankful #Scholarship #RedAndBlue #iamptk #dcccgrad
It took me longer than most of my original HS class of 2010 to get here but I’m still here. Challenges along the way and finally coming to terms that I needed more in life. I went back to square 1 for these past 2 and a half years with no real breaks in between and working a full class load and ...full time job. Many weekends, holidays, and special occasions were missed and sacrificed but look ma…I made it. Not only made it but was able to join Phi Theta Kappa honors society while I was at it. Now graduating with honors and looking forward to the next chapter in my life. Shout out to irixs my loving partner. My better half, for all that she sacrificed so that I can get here. Next stage in life is coming soon and I can’t thank you enough for all you have done so that I can be here. #classof2024 #collegegrad #gradphotos #graduation #graduate #santaanacollege #phithetakappa #phithetakappahonorsociety #CIS

I’m a college graduate!! Dr. Jill Biden was the commencement speaker!! What a fabulous morning. Teenage Joey thought he wasn’t smart enough for college and got D’s and always felt inadequate. Adult Joey just received his Associate of Arts degree in Social Work and is ready for ASU. I ...graduated with honors and a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. You are capable of more than you know. The only thing that gets in our way is self doubt! Don’t believe the negative stories we tell ourselves. If I can do it, you can too. Never give up on yourself and never stop learning what you’re capable of. #mesacommunitycollege #phithetakappa #classof2024 #dontgiveup #socialwork
