2009 Honors Seminar Series PBS Journalist Ray Suarez, microfinancial expert Jessica Jackley and consumer advocate Ralph Nader will energize your campus honors program with their discussions of the Paradox of Affluence, the 2008-10 Honors Study Topic. The 2008-2010 Honors Study Topic - The Paradox of Affluence: Choices, Challenges, and Consequences - provides avenues for honors students to enrich their scholarly endeavors with the interdisciplinary exploration of a timely topic and then apply their knowledge as servant leaders in the college and the community. The Pinnacle Scholarship Award Program recognizes Phi Theta Kappa chapters and regions for successfully enhancing their new member acceptance and orientation strategies, as measured by the number of new members reported in a given year. Scholarship Focus: The USA TODAY All-USA Community College Academic Team annually recognizes 20 outstanding two-year college students, offering stipends of $2,500. All receive extensive national recognition through coverage in USA TODAY. The Coca-Cola All-State Community College Academic Team annually recognizes 50 New Century, 50 Gold, 50 Silver, and 50 Bronze Scholars with each scholar receiving a stipend and recognition in USA TODAY. 150 national finalists also receive stipends. The Guistwhite Scholarship Program awards twenty qualifying students scholarships of $5,000 each, for completion of baccalaureate degrees. Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship nomination forms are now available and are due January 26, 2010. We encourage you to seek out nomination for this prestigious award.
