Accounting Associate, Phi Theta Kappa

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Phi Theta Kappa is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level Accounting Associate to join our Financial Services team. This role is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is eager to build hands-on experience in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

You’ll gain exposure to a variety of core accounting functions including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting while contributing to the financial operations of a mission-driven organization that supports student success.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Assist with preparing and posting journal entries
  • Support monthly account reconciliations and financial reporting
  • Help process accounts payable and manage shared accounting inboxes
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation
  • Assist with daily deposits and transaction tracking
  • Support credit card reconciliation and reporting
  • Communicate with internal teams to provide financial information and support
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of associate degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or at least one year of relevant experience in basic accounting functions, including reconciliations, journal entries, and financial recordkeeping.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other basic computer applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet recurring deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and processes

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Noise: This work environment is an office-like setting with moderate noise.
  • Physical Exertion: The incumbent may frequently be required to lift approximately 10 pounds and/or occasionally up to 25 pounds.
  • Vision: The incumbent must possess close, midrange, distance and peripheral. vision; as well as the ability to identify colors, judge distances, and adjust focus.
  • Speaking/Hearing: The incumbent must be able to give and receive information through speaking and listening.
  • Motor Coordination: The incumbent in this position is frequently required to: use their hands and reach with their hands and arms. The incumbent is occasionally required to: stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or bend.
