Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is pleased to announce the election of Adrienne Barkley Giffin to serve on its Board of Directors as Regional Coordinator Representative. Elected by PTK’s 28 Regional Coordinators during Catalyst 2026, she will represent the perspectives of PTK regions and help shape the strategic direction of the Society.
PTK’s Board of Directors is a constituent-based governing body composed of leaders who represent the voices and perspectives of the organization’s key stakeholders, including community college presidents, faculty, alumni, students, and regional leadership. As Regional Coordinator Representative, Barkley Giffin serves in one of the Society’s most important governance roles, ensuring that the experiences and insights of PTK’s regions help inform organizational priorities, policies, and long-term strategy.
Barkley Giffin serves as Associate Director of Student Development at John A. Logan College in Carterville, Illinois, where she advises the college’s award-winning Phi Theta Kappa chapter. She currently serves as Illinois Regional Coordinator and has been recognized for her outstanding leadership with Phi Theta Kappa’s Distinguished Regional Coordinator Award and Distinguished Advisor Award. Under her leadership, the Illinois Region earned the Regional Award of Excellence, one of the Society’s highest honors recognizing exceptional regional achievement, engagement, and support of student success.
“The Regional Coordinator Representative plays an essential role in the governance of Phi Theta Kappa,” said Dr. George Boggs, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Our regions are vital to the strength of the Society, and Regional Coordinators are among PTK’s most important volunteer leaders. Their perspective is essential to thoughtful decision-making and strong governance. Adrienne brings a deep commitment to student success and regional excellence, and we are excited to welcome her leadership to the Board.”
Throughout her service to PTK, Barkley Giffin has championed opportunities for students to develop as scholars and leaders while fostering collaboration among advisors and chapters throughout Illinois. Her dedication to excellence has contributed significantly to the success of both her chapter and the Illinois Region.
“I am honored to represent Regional Coordinators on PTK’s Board of Directors and look forward to helping ensure that students remain at the center of everything we do,” Barkley Giffin said. “I am excited to bring forward the perspectives of our regions as we continue advancing opportunities for student success and strengthening a culture of excellence across the Society.”
