Elmhurst University offers scholarship to Phi Theta Kappa members. Members of PTK are eligible to receive up to $24,000 per academic year in academic merit based scholarships.

The scholarship amount are stackable with other scholarships offered at Elmhurst University.

Tell us about your college’s new transfer scholarship for members of Phi Theta Kappa.

Members of PTK earn up to $24,000 per year in academic merit-based scholarship. It is based on exact GPA at the time of application and can be combined with our stackable scholarship opportunities including, but not limited to, our Associate’s Degree Award, First Generation Grant, Legacy Award and United Church of Christ Award.

Why does your college feel that it is important to offer a scholarship opportunity for members?

As a private institution we recognize the perceived idea that private schools are out of reach for many due to cost. However, we see our generous scholarship program as an investment in our students and seek to make an Elmhurst education accessible to anyone who would like to be a Bluejay.

Are there other transfer scholarships that could be stacked with your Phi Theta Kappa award?

Yes, we offer a number of stackable scholarships including our Associate Degree Award, First Generation Grant, Legacy Award, Promise Grant (for DACA/undocumented students), United Church of Christ Award for active UCC members, City Colleges of Chicago Award for anyone transferring from one of the seven city colleges and talent scholarships in Art, Music and Theatre for majors.

What other opportunities are available for transfer students at your institution to assist them in successfully transitioning from community college?

Flight Path 101: Navigating New Skies – transfer preorientation, Transfer Student Orientation, personalized advising with faculty from within the major, access to their admission counselor beyond enrollment, commuter lounge & commuter appreciation weeks, freedom to join and contribute to all clubs, sports and organizations, Transfer Seminar & College Life Coach coming Fall 2026 (think first-year seminar/college introduction for transfer students with myself – Director for Transfer Admission as their designated mentor.

In your opinion, what is one of the most impressive things about your college?

Our transfer friendliness! We welcome over 500 transfers each academic year rivaling the number of FY students each fall. Our transfer students are welcomed with open arms to Elmhurst and are supported every step of the way. Their previous experiences are valued and we recognize that those experiences enrich our campus community.
