Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) has published the fifth annual edition of Change Makers: Phi Theta Kappa Journal of Student Leadership, the first journal showcasing leadership among community college students. View the 2025 issue here.

Change Makers features 15 outstanding student-led leadership projects developed in collaboration with college administrators. These projects align with each institution’s strategic priorities and are supported by the broader campus community.

The projects covered a range of topics, including “Health and Wealth: Preparing Students for a Balanced Future” and “Serving Our Student Through Sexual Health Education and Free Safe Sex Supplies.” These projects represent the top entries from over 450 chapter submissions within PTK’s global community.

“One of the defining strengths of the community college experience is how accessible college administration is to students,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, President and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “The College Project doesn’t just develop student leaders—it surrounds them with mentors at the highest levels of their college, including college presidents. That kind of collaboration changes lives.”

The projects are part of PTK’s College Project program, which challenges students to lead service- and leadership-based efforts that support their college’s mission and create lasting impact.  The projects highlight PTK’s commitment to cultivating and acknowledging student excellence and scholastic success.

“The College Project is a key part of Phi Theta Kappa’s mission to empower students to lead and serve,” said Change Makers editor and Senior Director of Student Leadership Jennifer Stanford.  “By aligning their projects with their college’s goals, PTK members team up with college leaders to create meaningful change that lasts. It’s a partnership that helps keep PTK chapters strong, connected, and impactful.”
