Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) is pleased to announce the election of Dr. Diego Tibaquirá to serve on its Board of Directors as Chapter Advisor Representative. Elected by PTK’s more than 3,000 active chapter advisors during Catalyst 2026, he will represent the perspectives of chapter advisors from across the Society and help shape the strategic direction and governance of Phi Theta Kappa.

PTK’s Board of Directors is a constituent-based governing body composed of leaders who represent the voices and perspectives of the organization’s key stakeholders, including community college presidents, faculty, alumni, students, advisors, and regional leadership. As Chapter Advisor Representative, Tibaquirá serves in one of the Society’s most important governance roles, ensuring that the experiences and insights of chapter advisors help inform organizational priorities, policies, and long-term strategy.

Tibaquirá serves as professor and Phi Theta Kappa advisor at Miami Dade College’s Eduardo J. Padrón Campus in Miami, Florida. He advises an award-winning chapter and, under his guidance, students have earned some of the nation’s most prestigious scholarships and honors. At Catalyst 2026, Tibaquirá received the Marshall Award, PTK’s highest leadership award for advisors. He has also been recognized as a Distinguished Advisor.

“The Chapter Advisor Representative plays an essential role in the governance of Phi Theta Kappa,” said Dr. George Boggs, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Chapter advisors are deeply connected to the student experience and bring invaluable perspective to the Board’s work. We are delighted to welcome one of PTK’s very best advisors to the Board. Diego has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to students and is deeply invested in the mission of Phi Theta Kappa. His insight, experience, and dedication will strengthen the Society.”

Tibaquirá will begin his term on PTK’s Board of Directors immediately, serving as the voice of PTK chapter advisors in board deliberations and contributing to the strategic direction and governance of the Society.
